13th December 2022
Dear Parent/Guardian,
I am writing to thank you all for your support over the course of this first term of the academic year. The Autumn term is by far the longest and students, I am sure, will be feeling quite tired by the end of next week. It has been a busy and productive period for our young people whether they have been preparing for and undertaking external examinations or settling into their new high school. They have certainly earned their two-week break.
In keeping with tradition at Cathays High School, the last day of term will be a non-uniform day for students. We are not asking for donations to give to charity this year as we are well aware of the pressures on families with the cost of living crisis. We will also have our usual shortened day for pupils with school finishing at 1pm on Friday 23rd December.
Should the early finish present any problems around childcare for families then please do contact the Inclusion and Well-being team and we will arrange to supervise your child until the usual finish time of 3.10pm.
I wish everyone a restful and enjoyable holidays and happy Christmas to those of our families who are celebrating.
Yours faithfully
Stuart Davies
(Headteacher)
