Dear Parents/Guardians,
I am delighted to announce the Cathays High School Year 11 Leavers’ Celebration will be held at Cardiff
City Stadium, in Leckwith, near the Capital Retail Park. The event will be on Thursday 27th June 2024,
between 7:30pm and 10:00pm.
The cost of the celebration will be £23 per student, and all payments must be made via the ParentPay
website. The celebration will include soft drinks, an evening meal and speeches from staff and students
to commemorate their achievements and the years spent together. To ensure the safety of all students,
Cardiff City Stadium will provide security. This will be in addition to the large number of school staff
chaperoning the event.
The Leavers’ Celebration has been carefully planned as a fun and age-appropriate opportunity for us to
celebrate the success, hard work and dedication our Year 11 students have shown over the last five
years. It is the final chance for the whole year group to mark the end of their high school years together,
before they begin their next chapter.
As I’m sure you’ll remember, your child’s start at Cathays in 2019 was hugely disrupted due to Covid-19
restrictions, and, as a school, we are incredibly proud of how well they have progressed despite the
challenges and barriers. I have put this event together in an attempt to make up for the lost opportunities
this year group suffered when they were younger. Staff at Cathays are eagerly anticipating the Leavers’
Celebration as a way of saying goodbye to an incredible group of young people like no other! The Senior
Leadership Team, Form Tutors, Support Staff and I will all be supervising the event from beginning to
end.
I appreciate that you may have questions, so I am happy to speak to parents and guardians to address
your feedback. We want to see as many Year 11 students as possible attend the event to make it the
most special one we’ve ever hosted, so please don’t hesitate to get in contact with me personally via

The dress code for the evening will be smart. To help with any cost-of-living concerns, there will be a
chance for students to borrow their Leavers’ Celebration outfits from school closer to the time of the
event.
