Dear parents/guardians,
The annual Cathays High School KS3 Sports Day is taking place on Tuesday 11th July. This year the Sports Day is split between two venues:
- Year 7 will be taking part in a multi-sports adapted sports day at Talybont Sports Training Village.
- Year 8 and 9 will be taking part in a traditional athletics sports day combined with a basketball tournament at Cardiff Met.
Year 10 will be in school and will attend lessons as normal. They will also be in their school uniform as normal.
All pupils in years 7, 8 and 9 are to come to school dressed in their PE kit. The pupils are aware of their house colours and are also encouraged to wear a top of that colour. Pupils must also be in school by 8.25am because there will be a morning registration tutorial at 8.30am.
Year 7 pupils will be walking to Talybont with their teachers to take place in the sporting activities but will return to school for their lunch in the canteen like a normal school day. They will then return to Talybont for the afternoon activities before arriving back at school just before the end of the day.
Years 8 and 9 will travel to Cardiff Met on buses and will return to school after the activities before being dismissed at the end of the school day at 3.10pm. Years 8 and 9 will be having their lunch at Cardiff Met. Pupils who are eligible for free school meals will have lunches provided for them on the day. Pupils who are not eligible for free school meals will need to bring a packed lunch and refreshments.
All pupils will be supervised by Cathays High School staff at both venues and will be expected to follow the usual high standards of behaviour. This is an excellent opportunity to celebrate the sporting talent within the school community and for the pupils to enjoy a shared sporting experience.
Yours faithfully,
Mr J Sage (Raising Standards Leader for Health and Wellbeing)
