Dear parent/ guardian,
It came to our attention, after school yesterday, that the pupils from St. Monica’s CiW primary school are being picked up and dropped off on Crown Way by three coaches at the start and end of the school day. This situation is likely to last until the end of September, whilst their permanent new home is being finished. The children using this service are primary aged children between 3 and 11 years old.
The situation led to significant traffic queues and delays on Crown Way after school which was further exacerbated by cars stopping on the double yellow lines opposite Companies House where the coaches were stopping to drop children off. Unfortunately, we were not made aware of the situation and could not warn parents of Cathays High School students in advance. Several suggestions have been made to the Council to try and alleviate this problem in the coming weeks. It is likely that parking enforcement officers will be patrolling the area in greater numbers after school.
Could I please ask parents of Cathays High School pupils who are collecting their children to please pull into the car park of Maindy Leisure Centre to wait for their children to meet them? Please avoid pulling up on the pavement and double-yellow lines opposite Companies House, especially until this situation is resolved. This is very important for the safety of the children from St. Monica’s CiW primary school. I would be very grateful for your understanding and cooperation in this matter for the next three weeks or so.
Kind regards
Stuart Davies
(Headteacher- Cathays High School)
