Dear Parent/ Guardian
The weather is set to be very warm tomorrow, Friday 10th July and Monday 13th July. Therefore, pupils will be able to wear PE kits (including school branded PE kit or plain white, black or navy alternatives) or the usual school uniform without blazers, jumpers or ties on those days. It is important that your child has a refillable water bottle which can be filled before school, at break, lunch and the end of the day to stay hydrated. Please also ensure that they have sunscreen to protect skin exposed to the sun and that they have a hat for when they are outside the building.
We ask parents to please support us with maintaining high standards of uniform with these adjustments in place and to please check that they are not leaving home with non-uniform items such as branded sportswear or unsuitable footwear (for example croc or slider style footwear). The footwear is particularly important as it could be potentially unsafe in a busy, school environment. Similarly, any non-school uniform or PE kit items will be managed in the same way that non-uniform clothing is managed on a normal school day.
We appreciate that change can be unsettling and difficult for young people to manage and have given the matter a lot of thought. Therefore, we ask that everyone treats this short-term relaxation of uniform rules in the spirit in which it is intended, that is, to support young people to be in school, learning and focused in the classroom despite the heat. I thank you in advance for your support in the matter and appreciate that you will have these conversations with your children to ensure a positive week in school.
There are mixed forecasts from Tuesday onwards next week so we will review those on Monday and make a decision about uniform for the rest of the week and communicate that to parents on Monday.
Kind regards
Stuart Davies
(Headteacher)
