Dear Parent / Guardian,
I am writing to inform you of an incident that took place at school this morning, Wednesday 4 March, where a pupil brought a weapon onto the school premises.
I would like to reassure you that the safeguarding and safety of our pupils is our highest priority. The school takes matters of this nature extremely seriously and acted swiftly in line with established procedures and Local Authority guidance.
No one was injured and staff responded promptly to de‑escalate the situation. South Wales Police are now dealing with the matter and the school is fully cooperating to ensure this is dealt with thoroughly.
This was an isolated incident, and there is no information at this time to suggest it is in relation to the social media posts shared over the weekend.
Support is being provided to pupils who were in the area at the time, and we are in direct contact with those pupils and families who were directly affected. If your child has shared that they witnessed the incident and we have not yet spoken to them, please contact the school so we can ensure appropriate follow‑up. Wellbeing support is also available, and we encourage you to get in touch if you feel your child would benefit from this.
We understand that incidents of this nature can be concerning, and we want to reassure you that maintaining a safe, secure and supportive environment for all members of our school community remains our absolute priority.
Thank you for your continued support. Should you have any questions or concerns, please contact the school via the usual channels.
Yours faithfully,
Stuart Davies
