Dear parent/ guardian,
In keeping with the long-held tradition at Cathays High School, we plan to allow pupils to leave school at 1.30pm on Friday 17th July, the last day of the Summer Term. We will ensure that lessons and activities for educational purposes are planned to their usual high standard throughout the morning of that day and we will have 40-minute lunchtime between 12.40pm and 1.20pm to enable all pupils to eat lunch. At 1.20pm, we will have a 10-minute registration period in form classes before allowing pupils to leave for home at 1.30pm.
Arrangements have been made with National Adventure Travel and Cardiff Bus to ensure that the end of the day school transport is available for pupils at 1.30pm so they will be able to travel home in their usual way. We hope that having an earlier finish on the last day of term will be seen by pupils as a reward for their hard work this academic year and will allow many families to make earlier travel arrangements if you are planning to do so.
Staff will be on-site until after the usual finishing time of 3.10pm to ensure that appropriate safeguarding processes are in place. Arrangements can be made to supervise any children if parents require this. Please contact your child’s Head of Year if you would like us to make these arrangements for your child or if you have any further questions about the earlier closure on the last day of term.
