Dear parents
The community of Cathays High School is saddened to learn of the passing of HRH Queen Elizabeth II yesterday. Whatever our views on the institution of monarchy, most people would agree that the Queen was committed to serving the UK. We have posted and pinned social media messages from the Lord Mayor of Cardiff commemorating the life Queen Elizabeth II today, in keeping with many schools and other sectors of the Local Council. As we enter the period of national mourning we will be taking the Local Authority’s advice and guidance on how we can mark the passing of the Queen within our school.
School will remain open for all students during this period and the Welsh Government have today released instructions to schools that this should be the case in schools across Wales. Therefore, all students should continue to attend school on Monday and throughout next week as usual. Should there be any changes to those arrangements then we will contact you directly as soon as possible.
I hope that your children have enjoyed their first week back with us and we look forward to greeting them on Monday morning.
Yours faithfully
Stuart Davies
