Cathays High School is the leader organisation for the KA2 Erasmus+ project, “VIA Culture: European Cultural Heritage for Vocabulary in Action” (2018-1-UK01-KA201-047976), funded by the European Union and supported by the British Council. In this interdisciplinary project participated education researchers, foreign language teachers, cultural heritage specialists, and drama facilitators from University of Padova in Italy, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in Greece, International School of Belgrade in Serbia, and University of Bristol in England.
The aim of this project was to mobilise Cultural Heritage assets through artistic mediums for second language acquisition. Different educational approaches and methods from a variety of disciplines, such as Cultural Heritage in Education, Public Archaeology, Drama in Education, and Digital Learning, have been utilised to create cross-curriculum resources, that can be applied for developing skills in literacy, numeracy, and digital competency in English, Greek, and Italian suitable for KS3, KS4 and KS5 students.
